With sadness, we share the news that Robert Ingram, a founding member of CA’s Board of Directors and stalwart supporter of CA, passed away on March 24. Ingram served on CA’s Board of Directors from 1996-2018.
Ingram was a titan of the pharmaceutical industry. First serving as CEO and Chairman at GlaxoWellcome, he later co-led the merger that formed global powerhouse GlaxoSmithKline. He would go on to play several prominent roles in the Triangle’s life sciences community and most recently served as a General Partner at Hatteras Venture Partners, a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage life science companies. For over twenty years, Ingram was an active and visible member of the CA learning community. He played a leading role in Cary Academy’s first capital campaign to raise funds for building the Center for Math and Science, which opened in 2019 and served as our 2020 Commencement speaker.
