Charger swimming dominates at States

February 17, 2022

The girl’s swim team continued their dominance at the NCISAA Finals with a 137 point differential over 2nd place Charlotte Latin (371-234), earning their 6th Consecutive State Championship Title!

The boy’s swim team, while finishing as State Runners-Up to a ridiculously talented Charlotte Latin team, distanced themselves from 3rd place by over 120 points (418.5 – Charlotte Latin, 344 – CA, 222.5 – Cannon).

We have incredibly talented young men and women, but it’s the mix, the balance, that powers us and leads to success,” commented Coach Kevin Jones. “At the state competition, to advance to the Finals (scoring round), a swimmer has to finish amongst the top 16 with a max limit of no more than 4 swimmers from a school being able to compete in the Finals. In more than one event, we had swimmers finishing in the top 16, who couldn’t swim in the Finals because we hit our maximum entry limit; that is the definition of depth. We simply smother the competition!”

But it’s not just our depth that distances CA from other swimming programs, we have incredible talent as well; Individual and Relay State Champions, 2nd and 3rd place medalists, School Record Holders, Conference and State Meet Record Holders, and even All-Americans. Extra kudos to these Chargers for their impressive and record-breaking accomplishments at Monday’s meet:
